When you live at the Pierce, you’re just steps away from all of the action that Downtown Columbus boasts! From incredible food served by local restaurants, to sports teams to follow in every season, to the best shopping, to outdoor and indoor attractions, there is so much to love about living in the 614! Today we’re sharing a list of ten things that we absolutely love about calling Columbus home.

1. Big City Feel, Small City Comfort

Columbus is growing rapidly, and has just as many things to offer its residents and visitors as big cities like Chicago and St. Louis! Located in the heart of Ohio. But Columbus is small enough that it doesn’t feel as overwhelming like huge cities can. You can easily run into fellow locals at your favorite bars or restaurants, and may see familiar faces when you take a walk through the Short North or German Village!

2. The Best Local Eats

Columbus is truly a foodies dream. There are so many incredible local restaurants that serve a variety of cuisines. And there are dozens of vegan and vegetarian friendly picks too – so there’s truly something for everyone!

3. So Many Sports

Whether you’re a baseball fan, a college football fan, a soccer fan, or a hockey fan, Columbus boasts teams in many different sports, so you have a team to follow all year round! See what the Ohio State Football hype is all about and attend a game at the Horseshoe Stadium, catch a hockey game in the winter at the Nationwide Arena, or spend a summer afternoon by watching a Columbus Crew match!

4. Craft Brews

Columbus definitely loves its craft beer! At least a dozen locally owned breweries call Columbus their home! You’re sure to find a locally brewed beer you’ll love here in Columbus.

5. Festivals and Events

From the Arnold Expo, which attracts thousands of fitness junkies, weightlifters, and bodybuilders from all around the world, to Columbus Pride, to the Asian American Heritage Festival, to the Dessert Fest, to the Jazz and Ribs Fest, to countless musical festivals, Columbus always has something to do on the weekend. In fact, it may be hard to choose between all the incredible events going on!

6. Shopping in the 614

Whether you prefer to shop at local boutiques or you love to find the best deals at outlet stores, Columbus has it all! From the Short North Arts District to Easton Town Center or the Polaris mall, to the Tanger Outlets, you’re sure to find your favorite (or new favorite) place to shop.

7. Outdoor Activities

Columbus also boasts many walking trails, metro parks, and places to hike! You can take a scenic walk with a beautiful view of downtown Columbus on the Scioto Mile or go for a walk in the woods at Highbanks metro park. In the summer, head to Alum Creek to have a picnic on the beach or watch the boats! There are several dog parks to take your four legged friend to as well.

8. Columbus is Kid Friendly

When you live in Columbus, it’s easy to find things that are fun for your whole family! The Columbus Zoo. Columbus Art Museum, and Center of Science and Industry are just a few places that have many activities geared towards kids.

9. Columbus is Diverse

Columbus is home to families from all corners of the world: Hispanic, Somali, Chinese, Greek, Indian – you name it. We are a diverse community and we love to celebrate it and learn about each other’s heritage. The city organizes dozens of festivals, including the Greek Festival, Latino Festival, Dublin Irish Festival, and Asian Festival (and that’s just a few).

10. The Community

The community feel in Columbus is truly something that you can’t find just anywhere, and is something that you can’t beat. Columbus is constantly making improvements for every resident to enjoy, and holds so many community building events and initiates to bring us all together.
